Sapir Weiss, Owner, Trainer and Leader of the Pack
Sapir Weiss has an uncanny ability to understand dogs and their owners. As a dog behaviorist, he has dedicated his life to the care
and training of dogs.
An innovative educator and an expert in his profession, Sapir has trained thousands of dogs and their owners during his 35-year career. In 1990, he realized his dream of establishing an ideal dog facility where he could integrate his dog training and dog behavior philosophies by opening Olivet Kennel and Dog Training Resort in Santa Rosa.
Prior to owning and managing Olivet, Sapir was a partner in a dog training and boarding corporation with numerous San Francisco Bay Area franchises serving as Training Director for 10 years.
Experienced in all aspects of dog training
Sapir has been engaged in all aspects of protection dog training including Schutzhund and personal protection, and he has a strong foundation in Guide Dog training methods.
His career actually began as a hobby. In his youth, he bred, raised and trained Salukis in Israel. During his military service in the Israel Defense Forces, he developed the first anti-terrorist dog training unit. When he came to the United States he expanded his career by training police dogs and their handlers to perform search and rescue as well as drug and bomb detection.
Sapir developed a highly successful instructional training program in dog bite prevention for Pacific Gas & Electric, which drastically reduced dog-related injuries for employees. Over the years, Sapir has served as a consultant and expert witness in litigation relating to dog bites and dog behavior. Currently he works with Sonoma County helping train animal control officers in methods for safely approaching dangerous or challenging dogs encountered in the field.
When Sapir isn’t training or working with a client, you might find him tending to his vegetable garden or cruising around Santa Rosa in his 1954 pink Cadillac.
