Olivet Kennel Training FAQ’s

Olivet Kennel Training FAQ’s

Q. Do you offer group dog training classes?

A. At Olivet Kennel, we treat each owner and dog as an individual. Because dogs are easily distracted and mature at significantly different rates, it is nearly impossible to provide a constructive learning environment in a group setting. Each household has a unique rapport with their dog and the goal is to maximize that relationship to be as gratifying as possible.

Q. Will my dog’s spirit be "broken" in the course of training?

A. No! Contrary to common belief, training is based on enhancing your dog’s confidence and self assurance through positive and consistent guidance.

Q. How do we get started with training at Olivet Kennel?

A. Call (707) 542-2066 to set up your private training consultation. This comprehensive consultation will last approximately 2 hours and give you tremendous insight into your dog and your relationship with your dog.

Q. Why do both adults need to attend the dog training consultation?

A. We strongly recommend booking your consultation at a time when all the adults in your household can attend. A tremendous amount of philosophy about dog behavior is covered in this consultation; if only one spouse or partner attends, the material will need to be repeated at the first training session. In respect of your time and financial commitment we want this endeavor to be cost efficient and satisfying.

Q. Can I bring my child to the consultation? S/he loves our dog and wants to be involved.

A. Sapir is known for his skilled and entertaining abilities when working with children, however, the initial consultation involves more conversation than hands-on training. Past experience shows that it’s best for the adults to attend the consultation and once they proceed with training, then it’s advantageous to bring the children into the process. Most children (even teenagers) struggle to remain focused for the 2 hour consultation.

Q. What should we bring to the consultation?

A. You need to bring your dog and your list of questions. This is an opportunity to get to know Sapir and gain an understanding of his innovative, humane and proven dog training methods.

Q. Why can’t you give us an exact cost for the dog training before the consultation?

A. Not only do dogs vary greatly in temperament but they also present different concerns at varying stages of their development. Your situation may only warrant a couple of training sessions whereas another household may require numerous sessions. Flexible pricing ensures that you will only be charged what is required for your situation.

Q. What makes Olivet Kennel’s training program different from other facilities?

A. With our emphasis on individualized attention, we are able to offer you a customized and highly focused training program unparalleled in group classes or at other dog training facilities.

Q. How much notice do you require for cancelling or rescheduling a dog training consultation or training session?

A. As a courtesy we ask that you provide us with 48 hours’ notice when cancelling or rescheduling any type of dog training appointment. Please note that without adequate notification, you will incur either a charge or forfeit the contracted session.
